I got this journal in 2001, when Elfwood had one of its first major down-times in recent years - this was when the elfwood journal came into being, and they offered all members invite codes so we could move here instead. I didn't actually use this journal at all then, since diary-writing wasn't my thing and I had no one specifically to write for. (Not to mention lj was hideously slow when using Netscape 4 at the time...) Spent most of my online time at the Tad Williams Message Board, then Shadowmarch after the TWMB died.
Skip forward a few years, and I'd joined the loosely Buffy/Angel-related irc channel #thehellmouth since a couple of people I knew in person from uni (snowking and dsky in particular) used it. Hence my meeting lots of lovely people, and when most of them started using lj as another way to keep in touch, so did I (after refusing to use it on principle for a while).
Now I extra-warped from fandom.
I've recently (May 2009) got into jewellery making - wirework and beading - and am enthusiastically trying all kinds of different things at once. I always loved shiny stones, and this gives me an excuse to collect more!
As of Jan 2010, I started lampworking and now make my own glass beads! It's become something of an all-consuming obsession and I'm now much more active over on lampwork forums. I've got a Wordpress blog where I put glassy stuff intermittently.
